Andy Warhol (1928–1987) was an American artist and cultural icon known for his pivotal role in the Pop Art movement. Born Andrew Warhola in Pittsburgh, he began as a commercial illustrator before rising to fame with his distinctive style that merged art, media, and consumer culture. Moving to New York in the 1950s, Warhol became famous for his use of mass-production techniques and exploration of consumerism and celebrity culture, exemplified in works like "Campbell's Soup Cans" and the "Marilyn Diptych."

In addition to painting, Warhol was a prolific filmmaker and musician, creating experimental films and working with The Velvet Underground. His studio, "The Factory," was a central hub for the 1960s and '70s art and music scenes. Warhol’s legacy endures through his impact on contemporary art and culture, with his works held in major collections worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art, Tate Modern, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
