Erik Jensen, a Utah native, has always embraced art as his primary mode of communication, considering it his first language, ahead of verbal communication, due to being born deaf. He studied art at Utah Valley University and later taught high school art classes in the Wasatch Front region.

During his time at UVU, Jensen was challenged by a professor to transform unwanted items into desirable ones. Inspired by this, he began experimenting with old computer keyboard keys, initially creating a face emerging from a computer screen. This sparked his exploration into using computer keys for pixel art. After refining his technique over several years, including developing a dyeing process for the keycaps, Jensen focused on creating pixelated images. Initially recreating familiar subjects like animals and landscapes, he has since shifted towards abstract compositions that embrace the technological essence of pixels.

Jensen's artworks, influenced by artists like Jeff Koons, Nathan Sawaya, and Christo and Jeanne Claude, integrate multi-dimensional, colorful compositions enriched with visual and literary references from modern authors, artists, composers, and scientists. These complex creations resonate not only visually and physically but also on a subconscious level, inviting viewers to decipher their messages and engage with Jensen's creative processes.

Each key in Jensen's works possesses its own distinct character expressed through shape, color, and texture, contributing to the pixelated beauty when viewed from a distance and offering a mesmerizing texture up close and from the side.
